Amankona strikes late to give Bechem United win against Karela

Bechem United Friday scored late to beat Karela United 2-1 at the Fosu Gyeabuor park in a match day six Premier League game.

Both teams came into the game with an unbeaten record. But it was Bechem United, who started the with the aim of causing an upset.

Karela United goalkeeper Richard Baidoo was forced to make a point blank save ion the on 18 minutes after a Hafiz Konkoni strike.

Bechem United broke the deadlock, a minute into the second half Stephen Owusu headed the ball into the net from a cross. The visitors quickly responded 11 minutes later after Diawusie Taylor brought them on level pegging.

Bechem United appealed for a penalty in the 84th minute following calls of a handball in the opponent goal area but referee Maxwell Hanson had none of that as he waved for play to continue.

The game was almost heading to a draw until Substitute Listowel Amankona changed the story by scoring the match winner.

Amankona latched onto a rebound and coolly tapped home in the 89th minute to send the home side into a wild jubilation.

Karela United have been beaten for the first time this season. While Bechem United continue their unbeaten start to the season with a game in hand against AshantiGold SC.
