Ghana captain John Mensah and midfielder Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu left the Black Stars camp in Equatorial Guinea on Thursday and travelled to Gabon to undergo medical tests.

The duo travelled with Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi to Libreville as the Black Stars also made their journey to Malabo where the third place play-off will be played on Saturday.

Badu will undergo an MRI scan to determine the extent of his knee injury. Mensah will also undergo a similar test to determine with full extent of his thigh injury.

The tests could not be carried out in Equatorial Guinea because the MRI facility is not available in the country.

Badu suffered the setback in Ghana’s quarter-final match against Tunisia at the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The midfielder missed Wednesday’s semi-final defeat to Zambia through the injury in Equatorial Guinea.

Mensah was taken off during Wednesday’s 1-0 defeat to Zambia because of the thigh problem.
