He stunned the world in 2009 when he finished the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Egypt with both the Golden Shoe and Golden Ball awards as the competition's top scorer and best player and also helped Ghana become the first African side to win the competition.

Dominic Adiyiah called it the best moment of his career and added that he was not going to allow the successes at the junior level overtake him.

The striker instantly became a prized asset with AC Milan snapping the youngster during the January transfer window, as former Milan coach Leonardo described him as a signing for the future.

He set for himself the challenge of emulating U-20 standouts like Messi, Saviola and Aguero saying: "I'll work hard to do that. I'm preparing to get to the top.”

The future seems to have come pretty fast for the youngster who is the reigning CAF Young African Player of the Year as he prepares for the start of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa with Ghana, an opportunity to create a new chapter in his career.

Adiyiah, 20, is one of the attacking options at the disposal of Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac and is aware of the huge task he faces to force his way into the Ghana starting team.

A difficult group campaign would commence with the first game coming against Serbia before Australia and Germany follow in that order, quite a tricky group to qualify from.

With just few caps to his name, Adiyiah is aware he faces a tough competition from established guns like Asamoah Gyan, Matthew Amoah and Prince Tagoe for the high profile competition. But the striker says he would just have to stay positive.

"You have to be ready for everything," he told Fifa.com.

"You can come off the bench and give your best for the team to win, and you can also start too. You always have to be open-minded. Any time you get the chance you just deliver."

Getting any playing time is just a matter of time but Adiyiah is only concerned about realizing his dream of becoming one of the best.

“I want to play at the highest level and become one of the best in the world,” he said.

“Over the years, I've had the chance to watch some great players and I've been happy for them, I just want to be one of them too.”
