Accra Lions beat Uncle T to extend lead in Zone three

Evans Etti and Rauf Salifu scored on Wednesday to give Accra Lions FC a comfortable 2-0 win against Uncle T United FC to continue their 100% start to the season. The win gives the capital-based club a five-point gap at the top of the Zone Three table.

Accra Lions top marksman Evans Etti opened the scoring in the 5th minute to take his season tally to six.

The goal ensure that Accra Lions ended the first half with a slim lead. Rauf Salifu added the second goal in 65th minute as he pounced on an error by Uncle T goalkeeper Seidu Yussif to plant the ball into an empty net.

Lions continued to mount pressure on Uncle T and created chances to make it 3-0, but Rauf Salifu’s fine effort from the edge of the box was kept out by the goalkeeper, before Evans Etti sent the rebound into the stands.

The home side held on to win 2-0 to continue their impressive start to the season. Accra Lions currently sit top of the Zone three table with 15 points after 5 games, whiles Uncle T sit in 14th place with one point.
