Abu Mohammed is a youngster who is tipped to make the grade at both club and country but the Manchester City loanee is eager to take his chances with Ghana's senior national team.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been handed a call up by Goran Stevanovic for the Black Stars' 2012 African Nations Cup qualifier away to Sudan and Nigeria in a London friendly.

Abu, who is on loan with Norwegian side Stromsgodset would be joining the senior side for the second time [after a failed opportunity to play for Ghana against Nigeria in Watford in August which was called off due to safety concerns] and he is hoping to get the chance to make his debut.

“Now another opportunity has come for me to impress. With the good players Ghana has who are doing well in Europe, I hope I get some playing to show the world the sort of quality I am made of. I know it’s a crucial game and I have been playing regularly for my club which means I will be ready for the match,” the player said.

Qualification to the 2012 CAN in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea is the immediate concern of Abu as Ghana needs just a point against Sudan to earn a place at the finals.

“I hope I can do to well to help the country qualify. This game is very important for the country and so my biggest target is to help my nation.”
