Abbey and Rhule score as Olympics stop Liberty in Accra

Maxwell Abbey Quaye and Joshua Rhule scored in either half as Accra Great Olympics rallied to a 2-0 win against Liberty Professionals to end their three match unbeaten run.

The Premier League match day 22 encounter took place at the Accra Sports stadium on Sunday.

Great Olympics – back from a 4-1 demolition against Ebusua Dwarfs on match day 21 - went into the match with the aim of getting their season back on track after dropping to third in the standings.

Maxwell Abbey Quaye fired Olympics into the lead in the 36th minute after having a great start to the game with top quality ball control and inter positional play.

Liberty Professionals improved their play after the recess but Olympics did not let their guard as they stood firm to protect their lead.

Prosper Ahiabu and Stanley Appaw made way for Godfred Atuahene and Simon Appaw and that appeared to have given the visitors a little push in the final third.

Olympics looked to be closing in on a slim win until the 85th minute when Joshua Rhule poked home from close range to make it 2-0.

The last five minutes of the game saw Great Olympics retaining the ball to conserve energy as they game ended 2-0 in Accra - to move back to 3rd on the league table.

Liberty Professionals remain in 15th place with 24 points from 22 matches.
