Head of the Black Starlets technical team Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum has shortlisted 32 players following the rigorous and extensive nationwide screening exercise that featured five different batches of talented youngsters. The selected players are expected to report back to the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram for further assessment as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
The players are to report on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 16:00GMT.
Over the past weeks, hundreds of players from across the country were evaluated through technical drills, physical tests, tactical sessions, and match simulations. The multi-phase screening was designed to give equal opportunity to young footballers while ensuring the technical handlers had a wide pool from which to identify top-level prospects.
With the initial screening now complete, the 32 shortlisted players will return to camp for another round of detailed evaluation. This next stage will help the technical team prune the list further as they work toward assembling a competitive squad capable of representing Ghana at the continental tournament.
The final group selected from this upcoming assessment will be merged with the core players who featured at the WAFU B U17 Boys Championship in Ivory Coast. Together, they will form the foundation for full-scale residential camping ahead of the 2026 AFCON.
The comprehensive screening programme is part of a renewed commitment to enhancing talent development and restoring the Black Starlets to their former glory.
