2016 Milo U-13 Champions League launched

The 5th edition of the  MILO U13 Champions League was launched at the studios of GTV on Friday May 6.

 The annual juvenile competition is aimed at unearthing grassroot talents, creating the platform for competitive sport among school children and providing a similar experience of the UEFA Champions League for the young talents as they aspire to become professional footballers

GFA President Kwesi Nyantakyi delivered an address at the launch via video and commended Milo for supporting the competition which has produced lots of footballers.

He added that the competition has helped to promote and develop juvenile football in the country.

This year's edition will see participating schools grouped into four zones with the winner and first runner-up of every zone qualifying to the finals which comes off in mid-June.

Bepong Kwahu Methodist JSS in the Eastern Region are the defending Champions of the Milo U13 Champions League after beating Combone R/C JSS from Sogakope 2-0 in the last edition of the competition which was played at the Paa Joe Park in Kumasi.

The Milo U13 Champions League which was previously the Milo U13 Championship have produced several talents including its current ambassador Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien and Sulley Muntari, Abdul Majeed Waris, etc.
