Premier League clubs have dominated the MTN FA Cup finals since FC Nania defeated Asante Kotoko in the 2010/2011 season.
Evans Omani's goal proved crucial for the Pride of Paga in that thrilling final at the Accra Sports Stadium, handing the trophy to FC Nania, which featured players like Joseph Takyi Mensah, Abdul-Aziz Abankwah, Lawrence Lartey, Prince Baffoe, and goalkeeper Michael Sai.
Since then, lower-tier sides have struggled to match the quality of Premier League clubs in the final, with the likes of Okwahu United, King Faisal and Bofoakwa Tano faltering in three different finals in 2016, 2023 and 2024. Lower tier sides King Faisal and Bofoakwa Tano lost to Dreams FC and Nsoatreman FC, respectively.
The 2024/25 final will feature one Division One League side after Attram De Visser and Golden Kick reached the semifinals. The two sides will meet at the T&A Park in the first semifinal clash on Saturday, with one of them set for a historic final appearance. The winner will face the winner of the other semifinal game between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea.
