Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah on Tuesday dismissed the idea of changes to the captaincy of the national team.

Speaking at his unveiling by the Ghana Football Association, Appiah downplayed all talk of a change and maintained that the status quo remains.

"John Mensah is the captain of the team and he is my captain. No change has been made about that," Appiah said.

He however explained the choice of assistant captain will continue to change depending on the players available.

"For the role of assistant captain, that might not be constant. It will depend on a player being available if he's not then it will have to be passed round."

Although Appiah has been around the Black Stars since 2008 as an assistant coach, he says his methods will be in force during his reign as head of the technical team.

"I will do it my way, it's my methods," Appiah said at his unveiling. "My philosophy is to defend as a team and attack as a team."

"We will work as one unit and maintain team discipline. The team's code of conduct will be binding for everyone."
