Black Starlets head coach Kassim Ocansey says his team is ready to face every opponent at the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship as Ghana prepare to begin their campaign against Togo on Saturday.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference on Friday, Coach Ocansey expressed confidence in his players’ preparations, insisting that the team is ready for the challenges ahead in the regional competition.
“We have had good preparations, and the players are ready for every opponent we will meet in this competition,” he said.
Ghana will take on Togo at the August 4 Sports Stadium in Ouagadougou, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00 GMT. The opening fixture presents the Black Starlets with an opportunity to make a positive start to their campaign and build momentum for the matches ahead.
The Ghanaian side head into the tournament with valuable experience from last year’s WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire, where they finished as runners-up. Their impressive performance in that competition secured qualification for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Coach Ocansey will be hoping his players translate their readiness into a strong performance against Togo as they begin their quest for regional honours.
