WAFU B U17 BOYS: Black Starlets Wrap Up Preparations for Semi-Final Clash with Nigeria
The Black Starlets concluded their final training session on Monday ahead of their highly anticipated semi-final clash with Nigeria in the ongoing WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
The team trained at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny National Polytechnic Institute on Monday evening under the guidance of head coach Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum and his technical staff. The session was focused on tactical shape, finishing drills, and set-piece routines as the players sharpened up for the crucial encounter.
Ghana heads into Tuesday’s fixture with renewed confidence after bouncing back from a slow start in the group stage to secure a convincing 3-1 victory over Niger in their last match. The win sealed their qualification for the last four, setting up yet another chapter in the historic Ghana-Nigeria rivalry.
With a ticket to the U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco next year at stake, the clash promises to be intense. The Black Starlets know that victory over Nigeria will not only earn them a place in the final but also guarantee qualification for the continental showpiece.
Coach Dr. Ogum has emphasized mental strength and discipline ahead of the tie, urging his young charges to rise to the occasion. “We have prepared well, and the boys understand what this game means to Ghana. It is not just about football; it is about pride and the chance to go to the AFCON,” he said.
The semi-final is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. GMT on Tuesday at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro.
