Real Tamale United (RTU) has been admitted into the 2026 X1 Division One League (DOL) Super Cup following the withdrawal of Port City FC from the competition.
Port City FC officially informed the Association of its decision to pull out of the tournament due to circumstances that would not enable the club to make a good appearance at the competition.
In line with the competition regulations, Real Tamale United has been selected as the replacement club after finishing as the third highest-ranked third-placed team across the three Division One League zones at the end of the 2025/26 season, making them the next eligible side for participation.
RTU's inclusion ensures that the tournament retains its eight-team format as preparations gather pace for the competition, which will be staged at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.
Following the change, Group A will now comprise Debibi United FC, Real Tamale United, Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs FC, and Attram De Visser SC, while Group B remains unchanged with FC AshantiGold 04, Tamale City FC, Semper Fi FC, and Nsuopon Fidelity FC.
The X1 DOL Super Cup brings together the top-performing clubs from the Division One League and serves as an important platform for clubs to fine-tune their squads ahead of the new season while providing opportunities for emerging talents to showcase their abilities.
This year's tournament also marks the first edition under the headline sponsorship of X1 Energy Drink, following the company's landmark partnership with the Ghana Football Association to support the growth and development of domestic football.
