New Ghana Premier League trophy unveiled

The Ghana Football Association has unveiled a new trophy for the Ghana Premier League. 

The Italian made trophy with a property of 24 carat of brass with a height of  67cm in height and 40cm in width,is to replace the previous league trophy which was acquired by the previous title sponsor.

Speaking at a ceremony to unveil the trophy, the Chairman of the Premier League Board, Ashford Tetteh Oku noted in that the Premier League trophy had always been provided by title sponsors of the league but the GFA and the PLB are providing it this time around.

The League board chairman recounted the level of competitiveness and the historical achievements achieved so far this season with eight more matches to go.

Acting GFA president Nana Banyin Eyison added that the Association places so much value on the Premier League and will continue to put in place measures to improve its brand.

He announced the Association's decision to make the newly acquired trophy the permanent Premier League trophy and an iconic element of the league.

"Trophies symbolize the value of sports competitions; and they also epitomize hard work and rewards in sports".

"We are hopeful this trophy will inspire all Premier League teams season after season and raise their competitive spirits in their quest to lay their hands on it", the GFA EMCO member stated.

The new trophy will also be accompanied by an increase in price money with this year's winner receiving an amount of GHc120,000($30,000).
