The nationwide talent identification programme for Ghana's U-17 national team will continue in the Ashanti Region as coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle and his technical team intensify their search for the country's most promising young footballers.
The two-day scouting exercise is scheduled for June 27 and 28, 2026, at the Sofoline Alignment AstroTurf in Kumasi and the Obuasi Secondary Technical School Park respectively. The Kumasi session will run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., while the Obuasi exercise will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The programme forms part of the Association's nationwide effort to identify and develop talented players for the next Black Starlets team ahead of future international competitions, including the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.
Coach Mingle and his technical team will observe a series of matches and assessment games involving young players from across the region. The coaches will evaluate participants based on their technical ability, tactical understanding, physical attributes, decision-making and overall potential to compete at the national level.
The exercise is specifically targeted at talented boys born in 2010 and 2011. Eligible players are expected to seize the opportunity to showcase their skills and impress the national team selectors as they compete for places in the next stage of the selection process.
Outstanding performers from the Ashanti Regional screening will be shortlisted to participate in a final assessment programme at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram. The final screening exercise will provide the technical team with a broader platform to assess the selected players before naming the next Black Starlets squad.
The Ashanti Region programme follows successful scouting exercises in the Upper West, Upper East, Northern and Brong Ahafo regions. The nationwide initiative reflects the Association's commitment to creating equal opportunities for talented young footballers across the country while strengthening the player pipeline for the national teams.
