The Department of Physical Education and Sport Studies of the University of Ghana (UG) in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association have commenced a License ‘D’ Coaching course for potential coaches.

The Coaching Course took off on Friday, May 15, 2026 at the ultramodern lecture theatre at University of Ghana and part is expected to end on Friday, May 22, 2026.

The course is strategically designed for the various levels of students offering Physical Education and Sport Studies at the University of Ghana and other universities interested in exploring coaching in football.

The department, as part of its mandate has the ultimate vision of ensuring that its students are practically abreast with the modern trend of football coaching.

Further, this is supposed to be the opportunity for students to fully jump into the sporting world with solid practical and theoretical knowledge, skill and experience.

The eight-day intensive course would see participants going through both theory and practical sessions in the classroom and on the football field.

At the end of the course, participants would be assessed practically and examined theoretically.

Successful participants would then be issued with Licence D Coaching certificate to start practicing professional football coaching.

This collaboration forms part of the strategic objectives of the GFA's Ghana Football School to partner with tertiary educational institutions to train more coaches in the country to improve upon grassroots football growth and development.
