Ambassador to Cote D'Ivoire visits Black Maidens, urges team to excel at WAFU B Championship

Ghana’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, His Excellency Alhassan Abu, has paid a morale-boosting visit to the national U-17 female team, the Black Maidens, at the ongoing WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup.

Addressing the team, Ambassador Abu expressed his delight at their impressive start to the tournament and congratulated them on their victory in the opening match. He emphasized that their mission is clear: to win the competition.

“Take every match seriously because you are here to win,” he urged the players.

The Ambassador highlighted the broader significance of their participation, reminding the team that they are ambassadors of Ghana. He noted that their conduct and performance on the pitch reflect not only on themselves but on the entire nation.

Touching on sports diplomacy, Ambassador Abu explained that their current efforts will shape the future of Ghanaian football. He encouraged the girls to play as a cohesive unit, stressing teamwork over individual glory.

“The credit isn’t for the coach only, but for everyone, including those who are not here with us,” he stated, calling for selflessness and dedication.

To support the team’s welfare, the Ambassador presented boxes of water, drinks, and fruits to the delegation. He concluded his visit by wishing the Black Maidens the best of luck in their remaining fixtures.
