Head Coach of the Black Starlets, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, has named a 23-man squad for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U17 Boys Championship in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast. The list comprises three goalkeepers, seven defenders, six midfielders and seven attackers as Ghana begins its quest to qualify for the 2025 U17 Africa Cup of Nations.
The squad reflects a careful blend of emerging talent and tactical balance. According to the technical team, the selection was based on the players’ performance during preparatory games and training sessions in Accra and Yamoussoukro.
“We are confident in the players we have selected. They’ve worked hard over the past weeks, and we believe they have what it takes to compete and bring glory to Ghana,” Dr. Ogum said after naming his final list.
The Black Starlets have been in camp in Yamoussoukro since Monday, fine-tuning their preparations for the championship.
Ghana will begin their campaign with a Group A fixture against Togo on Saturday before facing Ivory Coast and Niger in subsequent matches. The top teams from the group will advance to the knockout stage, with a place at the continental showpiece up for grabs if they are able to make it to the finals.
