Newly appointed Black Stars Head Coach Carlos Queiroz has been presented to the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, in Accra.

The Portuguese trainer was accompanied by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, Vice President Mark Addo, Executive Council Member and Black Stars Management Committee Chairman Dr. Randy Abbey, and Deputy General Secretary and Director of National Teams Alex Asante. Also present was Assistant Coach Desmond Ofei.

Carlos Queiroz will be presented to the media in Accra on Thursday after arriving in the capital on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

The 73-year-old Portuguese tactician has signed a four-month contract to guide Ghana to the tournament in the United States, Canada and Mexico this summer, having taken over from Otto Addo.

“To be part of Ghana’s sports family is a privilege and an honour for me,” he said. “I have strong African roots. I was born and raised in Mozambique, so leading an African country like Ghana to the World Cup is unforgettable and will remain a memory for life,” he added during the meeting.

The Black Stars are set for a fifth World Cup appearance and have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama. Ghana’s campaign begins on June 17 against Panama, before matches against England on June 23 and Croatia on June 27.
