The Black Starlets continued their impressive build-up to continental competition with a convincing 2-0 victory over Semper Fi in their second friendly match on Wednesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The fixture marked the team’s second game of the day after their earlier 1-0 win over Zone 3 leaders Port City FC and their fourth friendly within two weeks, underlining the technical team’s deliberate effort to sharpen match fitness and tactical cohesion ahead of the 2026 U17 AFCON scheduled for April in Morocco.

Ghana asserted control early, opening the scoring after just 12 minutes through Clement Agyei, who rose above his markers to power home a well-timed header. The goal set the tone for the encounter as the Starlets dictated play with confidence and attacking intent.

Seven minutes before halftime, forward Gab Beng Amponsah doubled the advantage, cleverly beating his defender before calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper to hand Ghana a comfortable cushion heading into the break.

Semper Fi, who sit second in Zone 3 of the Division One League, returned for the second half with a more disciplined defensive approach that limited Ghana’s attacking spaces and prevented further goals.

The closest the Starlets came to extending their lead was when Agyei struck the woodwork, drawing relief from the opposition bench.

The match formed part of an intensive friendly schedule that has also seen the Starlets face True Democracy FC and Na God FC in recent weeks at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence, as Ghana fine-tunes preparations for the upcoming continental showdown.
