Black Queens arrive in Ghana after securing WAFCON qualification

The Black Queens have safely arrived in Accra after securing qualification to participate in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations(WAFCON), Morocco 2024.

Ghana lost 1-0 to Namibia in Pretoria on Friday, but progressed on a 3-2 aggregate score after winning the 1st leg 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, December 1,2023.

The team was led by Executive Council member, Dr. Mrs. Gifty Oware-Mensah, Coach Nora Häuptle and captain Portia Boakye.

The Black Queens received a rupturous welcome upon arrival at the Kotoka International Airport at 11:30am Thursday.

President, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, was joined by Vice President, Mark Addo, Nana Sarfo Oduro, Eugene Nobel Noel and Samuel Aboabire to welcome the team.

Also present were Ama Brobey Williams, Head, Women's football development desk at the Technical Directorate, officials from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, staff of the Ghana Football Association, the media, fans and other personalities.
