A total of 22 Catch Them Young Referees have been selected from the 10 administrative football regions to officiate at the maiden edition of the KIVO U-17 Regional Colts Champions Cup.
The tournament, which kicks off on Sunday, November 8, 2026, will run until Sunday, November 15, 2026, bringing together some of the country’s promising young football talents.
As part of efforts to develop young match officials, the selected referees began a training programme on Friday at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The training is aimed at preparing them for the demands of the competition and equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to officiate at the tournament.
The 22 referees will take charge of matches throughout the competition, providing them with valuable practical experience and an opportunity to develop their officiating careers.
Their involvement forms part of the Catch Them Young Referees initiative, which seeks to identify, nurture and develop young refereeing talents across the country.
The KIVO U-17 Regional Colts Champions Cup is the maiden edition of the competition for the ten regional U-17 Colts Champions as well as the three GFA Elite Academies to facilitate talent identification.
