Under-20 team coach Orlando Wellington has denied media reports claiming that he has settled on ex-international Yaw Preko as his assistant.

Reports this week had quoted the Black Satellites coach as expressing his preference for Preko as his assistant ahead of the next year’s African Under-20 Championship in Libya.

However, Wellington says he has been misrepresented on the issue.

“The media has put a spin on it and I will like to correct that. I said he(Yaw Preko) is one of those available but I never said he was my choice,” Wellington told Ghanasoccernet.com

“It must be understood that I don’t decide who becomes my assistant but the FA. What I can best do is to recommend and as at now, I have not been asked.

“As head coach I’m ready to work with anybody who joins me on the bench and that is my concern.”
