WAFU Cup of Nations: Ghana Embassy donates to Black Satellites

Ghana’s Embassy in the Republic of Benin, on Friday, December 18, 2020 donated assorted items to the national U-20 team, the Black Satellites.

This, according to the embassy is to motivated the players and the technical team ahead of the final against Burkina Faso on Saturday, December 19, 2020.

The delegation was led by Mr. Charles Osei-Mensah, Minister Counsellor and Head of Chancery and Mrs. Amma Agyeiwaa Boateng Consular and Welfare Officer, Embassy of Ghana, Benin.

In his address, Mr. Mensah congratulated the team on qualifying for the 2021 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania.

“We congratulate you on qualifying for the AFCON next year he said.

“On tomorrow’s match, we are upbeat about your chances. As representatives of the President of Ghana, we came here to encourage you and to motivate you with these items ahead of the final.

“We are aware of all the challenges you have gone through since you arrived, conditions are not the best but you defied that to get the results and we are proud of you.

“We wish you well in the final and its our prayer that you beat Burkina Faso to win the trophy.

“Again, we hope that this tournament will be the launchpad to a brighter future for all of you as it happened to your seniors in 2009”. Mr. Osei-Mensah added.

Captain of the side Daniel Afriyie Barnieh thanked the Embassy for the gesture and assured them of a resounding victory on Saturday.

Ghana will this afternoon battle the Young Stallions at the Charles de Gaulle stadium in Porto-Novo, Benin for the 2020 WAFU Zone Cup of Nations trophy.
