The five-day WAFU B Training Workshop for Young Referees successfully concluded on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

A total of thirty-two (32) young referees drawn from across WAFU B member countries participated in the intensive programme, which commenced on March 21, 2026. The workshop brought together a new generation of promising officials for a well-structured blend of theoretical instruction and practical on-field training.

Throughout the programme, participants were taken through a comprehensive curriculum covering modern refereeing fundamentals, the physical demands of officiating and advanced technical analysis. This was complemented by full immersion on-field practice sessions designed to sharpen decision-making and match management skills in real-time scenarios.

A key highlight of the workshop was its interactive learning approach, which encouraged open discussions between participants and instructors on some of the most complex and evolving situations in modern football.

Some of Ghana’s promising “Catch Them Young” referees were among the participants, gaining critical exposure and experience that will aid their progression to higher levels of officiating.

The programme also featured in-depth exchange sessions with Adama Guira, Men’s Football Manager of WAFU B and Precious Dede, Women’s Football Manager of WAFU B, who shared practical insights and professional experiences to inspire the young officials.

The closing ceremony was led by Philippe Tchere, Executive Director of WAFU B, in the presence of Yeo Songuifolo, Chairman of the WAFU B Referees Committee and Winifred Mawudeku, Director of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

The dignitaries commended the participants for their dedication and officially presented certificates to mark the successful completion of the programme.
