The 2025 WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup will kick off in Benin on Friday, November 7, 2025, with Ghana set to open their campaign against the host nation in what promises to be an exciting start to the regional tournament.

In a new twist to the competition’s format, this year’s edition will be played on a league basis, with participating countries facing each other in a round-robin format, home and away, rather than the traditional group and knockout stages. The team finishing top of the table after all matches will be crowned the WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup champion.

Ghana’s Black Princesses will begin their quest for regional glory against Benin on Friday, November 7, before locking horns with arch-rivals Nigeria in a highly anticipated clash. The Princesses will then play Benin again on November 10, before wrapping up their campaign against Nigeria on November 11, 2025.

The six-day tournament, running from November 7 to 12, 2025, will see West Africa’s brightest young female talents compete for supremacy and regional pride. It also serves as a valuable preparatory platform for national teams ahead of upcoming CAF and FIFA youth competitions.

Ghana, under the guidance of the technical team led by Charles Sampson, will be aiming to maintain their dominance in women’s youth football within the WAFU Zone B, building on the nation’s impressive record in previous regional and continental tournaments.

The league-style format promises more competitive fixtures and increased playing time for all participating nations, aligning with WAFU’s goal of enhancing player development and fostering stronger competition among West Africa’s emerging female football stars.
