Upper West RFA Successfully Concludes Second Edition of Free Licence D Coaching Course
The Upper West Regional Football Association (UWRFA) has successfully concluded the second edition of the Free Licence D Coaching Course for Colts Coaches, marking another significant step in the development of grassroots football in the region. The week-long training, which began on Monday, July 14, officially ended on Sunday, July 21, 2025, at the B.K. Adama Youth Resource Centre in Wa.
Organized by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the course equipped 30 Colts club coaches from across the region with foundational coaching knowledge and practical skills. Participants were trained in key areas such as football tactics, grassroots coaching principles, player development, child safeguarding, and first aid.
The course was facilitated by certified CAF/GFA instructors, with a special session on safety and injury prevention delivered by the Ghana Red Cross Society. This ensured that the coaches not only gained tactical know-how but also acquired critical knowledge on managing player health and responding to emergencies on the field.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, UWRFA Chairman Alhaji D.S. Yahaya commended the coaches for their dedication and urged them to apply the knowledge gained in their daily work with young players. He also expressed gratitude to the GFA for continuing to invest in grassroots capacity building through accessible and high-quality coaching education.
All participants who successfully completed the course will be awarded the CAF/GFA Licence D Certificate, qualifying them to officially coach at the juvenile level.
