It was another thrilling weekend in Ghana's Zone One league, marked by crucial victories and a surprising draw that reshaped the title race. Leaders Tamale City FC continued their remarkable unbeaten run, while Debibi United solidified their top spot in Zone One B with a solid performance.
Zone One A: Tamale City FC maintained their impressive streak, securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bolga All Stars at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Saturday. Donatus Akolibila's brilliant 19th-minute strike proved decisive, earning all three points for Tamale City. This win takes them to 51 points from 23 matches, remarkably remaining the only side across all three zones yet to taste defeat.
In a significant blow to their title aspirations, Real Tamale United's hopes were dealt a major setback by newly promoted Sankara Nationals. The former Premier League side was held to a 1-1 draw at the Yendi Youth Resource Centre. After a goalless first half, Mohammed Yussif broke the deadlock in the 75th minute for Sankara Nationals. However, Wisdom Jonas rescued a crucial point for Real Tamale United with a superb stoppage-time equaliser. RTU now sits on 43 points, eight behind the leaders after 23 matches.
In Zone One B, leaders Debibi United strengthened their bid for promotion with a commanding 2-0 victory over Techiman Liberty Youth at the Debibi Presby Park. The win marked their third consecutive clean sheet. Emmanuel Mensah opened the scoring just before halftime, giving Debibi a deserved lead, while Abudu Yakubu sealed the victory with a goal in stoppage time as Debibi United moved to an impressive 56 points from 23 matches this season, extending their advantage at the top.
