Real Tamale United thrash Kalibi SC, Victory Club Warriors maintain perfect start in Zone One
Victory Club Warriors continued their impressive start to the UMB Division One League campaign with a well-deserved 2-0 home victory over former Premier League side Techiman Eleven Wonders.
The hosts broke the deadlock four minutes before halftime when Majid Adama found the back of the net to give Victory Club Warriors a deserved lead. Victory Club Warriors doubled their advantage in the 67th minute, with Alhassan Ishaq finding the back of the net to secure all three points.
The win means Victory Club Warriors have now registered back-to-back wins in their opening matches in Zone One B, maintaining their perfect start to the campaign.
At the Malik Jabir Park, ten-man Wa Power SC suffered a disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Sankara Nationals.
Sankara Nationals took the lead in the 23rd minute through Hafiz Bawa, whose goal ultimately proved decisive as the visitors held on to secure all three points.
The result extends Sankara Nationals’ unbeaten start to the campaign, with the side recording one win and one draw from their opening two matches in their second consecutive season in the Division One League.
Elsewhere, former Premier League side Real Tamale United bounced back strongly from their opening-day draw on the road with an emphatic 4-1 victory over newly promoted Kalibi SC at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. They took the lead in the 32nd minute when Rahim Akanta calmly converted from the penalty spot.
Kalibi SC responded just four minutes later, with Sherif Nuru Mohammed producing a fine finish to level the scores.
Real Tamale United quickly regained control, however, as Osman Zakaria restored their lead in the 38th minute before Musah Alhassan added a third goal just three minutes later to give them a 3-1 advantage at halftime.
The Northern Blues continued their dominance after the break, with Keyan Mohammed scoring just three minutes into the second half to complete a convincing 4-1 victory.
