Ghana suffered an opening day defeat to the United States in Group D of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup on Monday in Hiroshima.

A 4-0 scoreline leaves the Black Princesses with much work to do in their next group fixture against Germany on Thursday.

The U.S, two-time winners managed to run down a hard-working Ghana side by a second-half treble from Maya Hayes after Linda Addai had conceded a 20th minute own goal.

Coach Robert Sackey will be hoping for an upturn in front of goal in the remaining matches as Ghana pushes for qualification from the group stages.
