Players of the Black Maidens will pick up a double bonus package for winning bronze at the the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Azerbaijan 2012.

This follows a directive from Ghana President, H.E. John Mahama to the Minister of Youth and Sports.

The Black Maidens will now be rewarded by twice the amount each member would have received if they had won their semi-final match against France.

The President gave the directive on Tuesday when the Black Maidens paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle and explained that he was of the conviction that the reward will motivate the team and hoped that other teams will strive for excellence.

The Black Maidens beat Germany 1-0 to finish third last Saturday and their feat which handed them bronze is Ghana's best-ever finish at a FIFA women’s competition and the furthest by any African side at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
