Medeama SC returned to the top of the Premier League standings after holding champions Gold Stars FC to an absorbing goalless draw in an outstanding midweek encounter at Duns Park on Wednesday.

Gold Stars created several opportunities across both halves but were unable to capitalize, dropping valuable points in what is shaping up to be a tightly contested title race.

Medeama, under the guidance of Ibrahim Tanko, were equally competitive and also spurned a number of decent chances, with both sides ultimately forced to settle for a share of the spoils after a pulsating contest.

The result proved significant at the top of the table, as Medeama climbed back into first place with 31 points from 16 matches, sitting one point clear of second-placed Asante Kotoko.

Gold Stars remain firmly in the title hunt as well, occupying third position with 29 points and staying within touching distance of the leaders as they continue their bid to defend the championship.
