The Premier League continued with exciting round of matches in matchday 5 of the Ghanaian top-flight on Sunday October 12, 2025.

Here is match-by-match preview

Vision FC vs Gold Stars FC

After dropping points for the third time this season, Vision FC will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Bibiani Gold Stars FC at the Nii Adjei Kraku II Sports Complex on Saturday in Matchday 5 of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League.

Following a humbling 4-0 defeat to 2022/23 champions Medeama SC in week two, Vision FC have responded admirably, going unbeaten in their last two league outings. The Tema-based side recorded a 2-0 home victory before holding Dreams FC to a 1-1 draw at the Tuba Astroturf last weekend.

Under the guidance of Coach Nana Agyemang, Vision FC have collected five points from four matches (W1, D2, L1), scoring three goals and conceding five, the joint-second highest in the league so far.

However, Vision FC’s home form remains formidable. They have won six of their last eight home league games, keeping five clean sheets in that period. Their last home defeat dates back to October 2024, and they will be eager to extend that unbeaten run when they face a Gold Stars side they defeated 2-0 in their only previous Premier League meeting at the same venue.

Gold Stars suffered their first league defeat of the season in midweek, falling 2-0 to Asante Kotoko in their outstanding Matchweek 2 fixture.

That loss marked Gold Stars’ fourth defeat in their last six matches across all competitions (W2), though it was their first league defeat in seven games (W5, D1). Currently eighth on the table with six points (W2, L1), the Miners have scored three goals and conceded three.

Saturday’s clash in Tema promises to be a compelling contest, as Vision FC seek to protect their impressive home record, while Gold Stars aim to bounce back and claim their first-ever Premier League victory in Tema.

Young Apostles vs Basake Holy Stars

Two sides who made their Premier League debut in the 2024/25 season will clash in a crucial fixture on Sunday, October 12, 2025, as Young Apostles host Basake Holy Stars at the Wenchi Sports Stadium.

The Wenchi-based Young Apostles are on the verge of making history as they chase a third consecutive Premier League victory for the first time since gaining promotion to the top flight. Riding on a wave of confidence, Coach Abdul Henan’s men have been in fine form, securing back-to-back home wins over Dreams FC and following up with an impressive away victory against Eleven Wonders last weekend.

After a shaky start to the campaign that saw them fall to Medeama SC on opening day, the Apostles have bounced back impressively, collecting seven points from their last three matches. They have scored four goals and conceded four, placing them comfortably among the top six teams on the league table.

Their home record remains a major strength, boasting six wins, three draws, and just one defeat in their last ten home league matches. In their recent four fixtures at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, they have found the net seven times while conceding only two goals.

Basake Holy Stars are enduring a difficult start to their second season in the top flight. The Aiyinase-based side are yet to register a win after four matches (D2, L1), with their most recent outing ending in a 2-0 away defeat to Berekum Chelsea. Although they still have a game in hand, their Matchday 3 fixture against Asante Kotoko was rescheduled to Wednesday, October 15, due to Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup engagement, they remain one of only four clubs yet to record a victory this season.

Defensively, Coach Augustine Evans Adotey’s team has shown resilience, conceding just two goals so far, both in their defeat to Chelsea. However, their away form remains a major concern. The Holy Stars are winless in their last 18 away league matches (D4, L14), with their last victory on the road dating back to September 2024. They will need a massive improvement to end that poor run against an in-form Young Apostles side.

The two teams have met only once in the Premier League at the Wenchi Sports Stadium, where Young Apostles emerged 2-0 winners last season.

FC Samartex 1996 vs Eleven Wonders

FC Samartex 1996 will be looking to extend their unbeaten start to the 2025/26 Premier League season when they welcome Eleven Wonders to the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

The Timber giants have made a dream start to the new campaign, going unbeaten in their opening four league matches for the first time since the 2022/23 season. Their most recent outing saw them grind out a hard-fought 1-0 home victory over two-time league champions Aduana FC, a result that further underlined their early-season solidity.

With six points from four games (W1, D3), Coach Christopher Ennin’s side continues to show the consistency expected of a team chasing their second Premier League title in three years.

The Nsenkyire Sports Arena has become a fortress in recent times. Samartex are unbeaten in their last 12 home league matches (W7, D5), a run that stretches back to December 2024, when they last tasted defeat on home soil against Heart of Lions.

Eleven Wonders travel to Samreboi in search of their first win of the season after enduring a difficult start to life back in the top flight. Nii Odartey Lamptey’s men suffered a heartbreaking 1-0 home defeat to Young Apostles last weekend, conceding an 89th-minute goal that sealed their third loss in four matches (D1).

Currently bottom of the league table with just one point, Wonders have struggled at both ends of the pitch, scoring only once while conceding a league-high six goals in four outings. Their away record offers little comfort either, having lost three of their last six away league games (W1, D2) and conceding in four of those fixtures.

This will be the first-ever competitive league meeting between FC Samartex 1996 and Eleven Wonders at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena since Wonders’ return to the Premier League this season.

With Samartex aiming to maintain their unbeaten start and Wonders desperate to end their winless run, Sunday’s clash promises to be a compelling contest in Samreboi.

Karela United vs Berekum Chelsea

Karela United will be eager to return to winning ways when they host an improving Berekum Chelsea side at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025, in a crucial Matchday 5 fixture of the Premier League.

The Tamale-based side made an impressive start to the campaign, collecting seven points from their opening three matches before suffering a setback last weekend — a 4-1 defeat to newly promoted Hohoe United. It was a rare off day for Coach Nurudeen Amadu’s men, who conceded two goals in each half in what was their heaviest league defeat since May 2024.

Despite that result, Karela remain in the top half of the table with seven points (W2, D1, L1), having scored four goals and conceded five, the joint-second highest in the division. They have, however, maintained a perfect home record, winning both of their matches at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium this season without conceding a goal.

Karela’s home dominance over Berekum Chelsea is also notable, they have won all five previous meetings between the two sides at the venue since 2020, scoring freely in each encounter. With that record in mind, the Green and Reds will be determined to continue their strong home form and quickly bounce back from last weekend’s defeat.

Berekum Chelsea arrive in Tamale looking to build on a mixed start to their campaign. They have collected three points from their opening three matches (W1, L2), with all of their games so far ending in clean-sheet victories for the winning side — a trend they will be hoping to change on Sunday.

Under Coach Samuel Boadu, Chelsea have once again demonstrated their strength at home, but their away form remains a concern. Nearly 80% of their league points last season came at the Golden City Park, and early signs suggest a similar pattern this year. However, they have shown the capacity to deliver surprise results on the road — two of their three away victories last season came against top-half sides.

Chelsea also have an outstanding fixture against Bibiani Gold Stars, their Matchday 3 encounter rescheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, due to Gold Stars’ continental commitments.

Since their first Premier League meeting in the 2020/21 season, Berekum Chelsea have never beaten Karela United away from home, losing all five encounters at the Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium. Despite their struggles, they have found the net in every visit — losing 4-1 (2020/21), 2-1 (2021/22), 4-1 (2022/23), 3-1 (2023/24), and 2-1 (2024/25).

Hohoe United vs Swedru All Blacks

Newly promoted Hohoe United will be aiming to record their first-ever consecutive wins in the Ghana Premier League when they welcome Swedru All Blacks to the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

After going winless in their debut Premier League campaign, Hohoe United finally announced themselves on the big stage last weekend with a stunning 4-1 victory over Karela United at home. The emphatic win — their first-ever in the top flight — lifted the spirits of Coach Tijani Abdul Rahim Bashiru’s side and left Eleven Wonders as the only new entrant yet to record a victory this season.

That result means Hohoe United have collected points in three of their opening four matches (W1, D2, L1), placing them in the top half of the league table heading into Matchday 5. The Hohoe-based side remain unbeaten at home this season (W1, D1), and despite conceding in both fixtures, their attacking fluidity and confidence at the Hohoe Sports Stadium have quickly turned it into a difficult venue for visiting teams.

Meanwhile, Swedru All Blacks travel to Hohoe searching for a much-needed response after a difficult start to the 2025/26 campaign. They currently sit 13th on the table with three points (W1, L3), having scored and conceded five goals apiece in their opening four games.

Coach Ahmed Ibrahim Fathi’s side have endured two straight 2-1 defeats on the road, extending a troubling away record that has seen them lose seven of their last nine away matches across all competitions (W2). The All Blacks’ defensive frailties have also been a recurring concern — their five goals conceded rank among the joint-second highest in the league.

Adding to their challenge, the Swedru-based club have not celebrated an away Premier League win since April 2009, when they famously defeated Asante Kotoko in Kumasi. They will, however, draw motivation from their competitive spirit in recent fixtures and aim to end their travel woes with a strong showing in Hohoe.

This will be the first-ever competitive meeting between Hohoe United and Swedru All Blacks in the Ghana Premier League.

With Hohoe riding the wave of their historic first win and All Blacks desperate to turn their form around, Sunday’s clash promises to be a thrilling contest filled with determination, pride, and the pursuit of much-needed momentum.

Aduana FC vs Bechem United

Aduana FC will be looking to return to winning ways when they host Bechem United in the much-anticipated Bono Derby at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park on Sunday, October 12, 2025.

The Fire Club suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to FC Samartex 1996 last weekend — their second loss of the campaign (W2, L2) — and will be eager to respond in front of their home supporters.

Despite their inconsistency on the road, Aduana have maintained a formidable record at home. They head into this fixture boasting an eight-game winning streak at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Park, including back-to-back home victories this season. The two-time league champions have also been remarkably consistent in front of goal, scoring in 11 of their last 12 home matches (W10, D1, L1).

Bechem United remain rooted to the bottom of the table after a goalless draw at home to Hearts of Oak last Friday, extending their winless start to four matches (D2, L2). It is the first time since the 2011/12 season, the year they were relegated, that the Hunters have failed to win any of their opening four top-flight fixtures.

New coach Stephen Desmond-Issah Botchway faces an early challenge in turning things around, with his team managing only one win in their last eight league outings (D3, L4). Their away form is particularly troubling, Bechem have recorded just one victory in their last 13 away matches (D2, L10), underscoring the scale of the task they face in Dormaa.

Aduana FC have dominated this fixture in recent seasons, especially at home. Since the 2020/21 campaign, the Fire Club have won three of their last five home meetings with Bechem United. The two sides played out a goalless draw in 2020/21, before Aduana suffered a 0-1 loss the following year. Since then, Aduana have responded emphatically, recording three straight 1-0 victories over Bechem United in their last three meetings in Dormaa.
