Premier League: Gold Stars seek redemption, Eleven Wonders hunt first win in Super Monday doubleheader
High-flying Heart of Lions will look to maintain their impressive unbeaten run when they travel to Dun’s Park to face defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars FC in the Ghana Premier League on Monday, October 20, 2025.
The reigning champions have endured a turbulent start to their title defense. After beginning the 2025/26 campaign with two straight victories, Nana Yaw Amankwah's men have since suffered back-to-back defeats, failing to score in either match. Their recent 3-0 humbling by Vision FC laid bare their defensive frailties, with the Miners conceding 12 goals in their last five outings across all competitions (W1, L4).
Gold Stars currently sit 12th on the table with six points from four games, scoring three and conceding six. However, they do have a game in hand against Berekum Chelsea. The champions will take solace in their strong home form, unbeaten in their last three league matches at Dun’s Park (W2, D1), and will be eager to bounce back against a Heart of Lions side they went unbeaten against last season (W1, D1).
Heart of Lions are enjoying one of their best starts in recent memory. The Kpando-based club have yet to taste defeat this season, recording three wins and two draws, including commendable goalless stalemates against giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
Under Bashir Hayford, the Lions have combined solid defensive discipline with efficient attacking play. They have scored six goals, the third-highest in the league, while conceding just once, making them the second-best defense in the division. Their 11 points from five matches see them sitting proudly in second place, just behind early leaders.
The Lions have also proven resilient on the road, collecting five points from a possible nine (W1, D2) to rank as the league’s best away performers so far. They will be motivated to claim their first-ever league victory at Bibiani and extend their unbeaten streak to six matches — a feat they last achieved in 2023.
This clash promises an intriguing battle: the wounded champions desperate to respond versus the fearless challengers looking to make a statement of intent.
Bottom-placed Eleven Wonders return to their adopted home still chasing their first win of the season, as they welcome Karela United on Monday, October 20, 2025, at the Swedru Sports Stadium,
It’s been a tough Premier League for the side, who have collected just one point from five matches (D1, L4). Their 2-1 defeat at Samartex 1996 summed up a frustrating run that has seen them score a league-low two goals while conceding a league-high eight. At home, Eleven Wonders have been especially poor, losing both matches, scoring just once, and conceding five.
Head Coach Nii Odartey Lamptey will be desperate to inspire a turnaround as his team seeks a first home league victory since June 2022. Encouragingly, Eleven Wonders have fond memories against Karela United, having beaten them in their last two home league meetings, 3-1 in 2020/21 and 2-1 in 2021/22.
The Tamale-based outfit are winless away from home this season and have struggled on the road historically, losing 12 of their last 18 away games (W2, D4). Yet, facing the league’s bottom side offers an opportunity to end that poor run and climb further up the table.
With Eleven Wonders desperate for their first win and Karela searching for an away breakthrough, this clash has all the makings of a tense and competitive match.
