Premier League: Asante Kotoko cruise past Eleven Wonders to keep title charge on track
Asante Kotoko strengthened their Premier League title ambitions with a comfortable 2–0 victory over Eleven Wonders in their Matchday 15 encounter on Wednesday at the University of Ghana Stadium.
The Porcupine Warriors signalled their intent from the opening exchanges and were rewarded in the 16th minute when Peter Amidu Acquah broke the deadlock. The forward capitalised on a momentary lapse in concentration at the back for Eleven Wonders, reacting quickest to slot home after the defence was caught napping and give Kotoko a deserved lead.
Kotoko maintained their control after the break, producing a dominant second-half display that kept Wonders pinned deep in their own half for long stretches. The pressure eventually told in stoppage time, when Johnson Owusu put the result beyond doubt in the 89th minute, calmly finishing to cap off an impressive team performance.
The victory propels Asante Kotoko to third place on the league table after 15 matches, level on points with second-placed Medeama and just one point behind leaders Aduana FC, firmly keeping the Kumasi giants in the hunt for the Premier League title.
