The Football Association has appointed 17-year-old Adongo Angelous Akurugu from Navrongo Senior High School to officiate the highly anticipated Premier League Matchday 5 match between Nations FC and Asante Kotoko at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Abrankese on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Akurugu, one of the promising talents nurtured under the “Catch Them Young Refereeing Initiative,” has been steadily making a name for himself in the officiating ranks. He recently demonstrated exceptional composure and decision-making during the CAF African Schools Football Championship final between Senegal and Tanzania at the University of Ghana Stadium, an experience that showcased his potential on a continental stage.

He will be assisted on the lines by Joseph Teye Awasabi and Haruna Yakubu, with Kingsford Oteng Yeboah serving as the fourth official.

Tasembedo Ousmane has been appointed as the Match Commissioner, while Christine Enyonam Zigah, Chairperson of the GFA Referees Appointment Committee, will serve as the Referee Assessor for the game.

The GFA is commitment to developing the next generation of referees and providing them with meaningful opportunities at the top level of domestic football.

The Catch Them Young Refereeing Initiative continues to serve as a vital pathway for identifying, training and mentoring talented young referees across the country, ensuring the sustainability and quality of officiating in Ghana’s football ecosystem.
