Semper Fi FC tightened their grip on second place in Zone Three with a hard-fought 1-0 win over an in-form Attram De Visser side at the Tuba Astro Turf on Saturday, despite playing most of the second half with ten men. Samuel Adonteng Owusu netted the decisive goal just three minutes after the restart, capitalizing on a loose ball from a corner kick. The victory lifts Semper Fi FC to 52 points after 28 matches.
Meanwhile, former Premier League side Okwawu United FC ended their three-game winless run (D1, L2) with a crucial 2-1 away victory over Great Olympics at the McDan Astro Turf. Abraham Tetteh opened the scoring in the 14th minute, but Frederick Akatuk equalized for Great Olympics just two minutes later. Morgan Abayatey restored Okwawu United’s lead almost immediately, grabbing what proved to be the winner a minute later. Despite the vital win, Okwawu United remain in the relegation battle with 32 points from 28 games and only two matches left to play.
Also, champions Port City FC continued their dominant run with an exciting 3-2 comeback win over WAFA SC at the Kukurantumi Ohene Park. WAFA made a fast start, with Sylvester Henyo scoring in the 4th minute, but Korbla Junior Kedzie leveled matters in the 21st minute to send the sides into halftime at 1-1. Alex Boateng put Port City ahead in the 51st minute before captain Hamza Zakari extended the lead ten minutes later. Substitute Melchizedek Frimpong pulled one back for WAFA SC in the 76th minute, but Port City held on to secure the win. The champions moved to an impressive 64 points from 28 matches this season
