Asante Kotoko scored on the cusp of fulltime to beat Golden Kick 2-1 to claime their 10th MTN FA Cup title on Sunday. Kwame Opoku scored the winning goal in injury time, to secure the win for the Reds.
The match got off to an astonishing start for Asante Kotoko, with Kwame Opoku getting on the end of a well-delivered Lord Amoah free kick to open the scoring in the 17th minute. However, Golden Kick responded strongly, and Bless Ege leveled the scores with a sumptuous free kick in the 32nd minute.
But just before the full-time whistle, Asante Kotoko were awarded a penalty after a clash between Kwame Opoku and Golden Kick goalkeeper Kelvin Saaba. Opoku himself stepped up and coolly converted the spot kick to seal the victory for the Porcupine Warriors – giving them a record 10th MTN FA Cup title and a ticket to play in the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
