Eastern Region sealed their place in the grand finale of the maiden MTN Elite U19 Championship after a nerve-racking 9–8 penalty shootout victory over Greater Accra Region, following a pulsating 2–2 draw in regulation time at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram on Friday.
The thrilling first semi-final encounter lived up to its billing, producing high drama, three penalties and moments of breathtaking skill from both sides.
Eastern Region got off to a flying start when Desmond Tutu opened the scoring from the spot in just the 5th minute. However, their joy was short-lived as Greater Accra hit back almost immediately with a quick equalizer two minutes later.
