MTN Elite U19: Eastern face Greater Accra, Ashanti battle Brong Ahafo in Friday’s semi-final showdowns

The stage is set for a thrilling encounter as Eastern Region lock horns with Greater Accra Region in the first semi-final of the MTN Elite U19 Championship on Friday, October 31, 2025, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Eastern Region, who topped Group A with nine points, enter the clash as one of the tournament’s most consistent sides. Under the guidance of coach Godie Nana Mensah, they began their campaign in dominant fashion with three straight wins over Upper West, Western Region, and Brong Ahafo, before narrowly losing 1–0 to Northern Region in their final group game.

Their opponents, Greater Accra Region, finished second in Group B after an impressive run that saw them win three of their four matches. The capital side recorded emphatic victories against Upper East, Volta and Central Regions, before falling 2–1 to eventual group winners Ashanti Region in a closely contested final group fixture.

Another exciting clash is on the cards as Ashanti Region take on Brong Ahafo Region in the second semi-final scheduled for 4pm local time at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

Both sides have been among the tournament’s most consistent performers, setting up what promises to be a fiercely contested battle for a place in Sunday’s grand finale.

Ashanti Region advanced as Group B winners, collecting three wins and a draw in the group stage. Their impressive 2–1 triumph over Greater Accra Region in the final group match sealed their position at the top and sent a clear message of intent to their rivals.

Their opponents, Brong Ahafo Region, have also enjoyed a strong campaign, winning three matches and losing just once to finish second in Group A. Known for their attacking flair and tactical discipline, Brong Ahafo will be determined to continue their fine form and book a place in the final.

With both teams boasting a wealth of young talent, skill and determination, Friday’s encounter promises to be a thrilling and closely fought contest. The winner will advance to face either Eastern Region or Greater Accra Region in what is shaping up to be a spectacular finale to the 2025 edition of the championship.
