Baba Sharif Mohammed of Ashanti Region and Enoch Sarpong of Volta Region were the standout performers in Friday’s Group A matches of the 2026 MTN Elite U-19 Championship, earning Most Valuable Player honours for their respective teams.
Sharif was adjudged MVP after producing an impressive performance in Ashanti Region’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Upper West Region at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
The youngster played a key role in Ashanti’s determined display as they secured another important victory in the championship. Mohammed Dayvon scored the decisive goal in the 54th minute, giving Ashanti Region all three points.
In the other Group A encounter, Enoch Sarpong was named Most Valuable Player after an outstanding display helped Volta Region secure a convincing 2-0 win over Western Region.
Agbogah Cisse opened the scoring in the 36th minute, before Samuel Maja doubled Volta’s advantage late in the game to seal the victory.
Sarpong’s performance earned him the MVP award and further underlined the individual quality emerging from the championship.
The MTN Elite U-19 Championship continues to provide an important platform for some of Ghana’s brightest young footballers to develop their technical and tactical abilities, while gaining valuable competitive experience that can contribute to their growth and future careers.
