Meteors called up for final game

A 21-man Black Meteors team resume camping in Accra on Sunday as Ghana begin preparations for the final round of qualifier against Nigeria for next year’s Olympic games.

Ghana coach, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio ahead of the November 16 home clash with the Nigerians has called up a strong locally-based team to camp to be joined later by their foreign-based colleagues.

The Black Meteors top the three-team group with six points after two back-to-back victories over South Africa in the qualifying campaign.

Ghana’s opponents for the last game, Nigeria, have two games to spare with the match against the Black Meteors, being the most crucial in determining who gets the sole ticket the to Beijing Games.

Victory over the Nigerians would certainly hand Ghana qualification to the games.

Players called up:

Jerry Akaminko, Obed Ansah, Samuel Ellis, Addoquaye Addo, Osei Banahene, John Boye (Heart of Lions), Eric Nii Baah, Francis Akwafo, Samuel Inkoom (Asante Kotoko), Alex Aryee (Wa All Stars) and Joseph Tachie Mensah (Accra Hearts of Oak).

The rest are Bawa Mumuni, Emmanuel Allan, Kennedy Korlie, Kojo Asamoah (Liberty Professionals), Ernest Sowah and Seidu Yakubu (Tema Youth), Daniel Addo, and Sampson Cudjoe (Kessben FC), Michael Akuffo (Feyenoord) and Fatau Dauda (Okwawu United).
