Sellas Tetteh would have a full squad to select from as Ghana prepares for the final group A in the African Youth Championship against hosts, Rwanda on Saturday.

The Black Satellites coach has hailed the new addition to the team as Ghana seeks to qualify from the group and move them closer to picking one of the four tickets to the World Youth Championship later in the year to be hosted by Egypt as the AYC by extension serves as a qualifier to the World tournament.

“The tournament is getting tougher and tougher so we still need more people so it is important that he has come,” Sellas Tetteh told KickOffGhana.com.

“I believe we need him in the team. Potentially we have about three matches to play so he will be a major addition.”

The Ghana team received a major boost on Friday after defender, Jonathan Mensah finally joined up with the rest of the Black Satellites team.

Jonathan Mensah had missed out of Ghana’s two games after South African club side; Free State Stars delayed his release because of club commitments.

The player’s arrival presents Sellas Tetteh with more options in defence for the crucial game against Rwanda after having used Phillip Boampong and Daniel Addo in the two previous matches.

Despite the arrival of Jonathan Mensah, Sellas Tetteh says he has been impressed with the pair of Boampong and Addo.

“I give them a lot of credit because they have played two matches and conceded just one goal. It means they have protected the goalkeeper well. The introduction of Jonathan Mensah should strengthen them, make them sit up but at this stage they have done well.”
