Medeama SC face a crucial test against TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi as they look to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit and secure progression to the next stage of the 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League qualifying campaign.
The Mauve and Yellow arrived in Lubumbashi on Wednesday and have been fine-tuning their preparations ahead of the decisive second leg at the Stade TP Mazembe.
Medeama were left frustrated in the opening encounter at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa last Sunday after dominating large periods of the game but failing to convert their opportunities. Their efforts were punished in the 87th minute when substitute Lise Ntumba Nyembo finished off a swift counter-attack to give the Congolese giants a narrow advantage.
The Ghanaian champions now know exactly what is required to turn the tie in their favour. A victory by two or more goals will see Medeama overturn the deficit and progress, while a one-goal win would level the aggregate score and force the tie into a penalty shootout.
Mazembe will head into the encounter with confidence after securing an important away victory in Tarkwa and will be backed by their passionate home supporters as they seek to protect their slender advantage.
Medeama, however, remain firmly in contention. The Ghanaian champions will need greater efficiency in front of goal while maintaining defensive discipline against a Mazembe side capable of exploiting the slightest opening on the counter.
