Medeama’s 2026/27 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League campaign came to an end on Saturday, September 12, 2026, after they suffered a 3-1 defeat to TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi, resulting in a 4-1 aggregate loss to the Congolese giants.
The Ghanaian Premier League champions, who travelled to the Stade TP Mazembe with a 1-0 deficit from the first leg at the TnA Stadium last Sunday, were unable to overturn the advantage as Mazembe produced a commanding performance on home soil.
Mazembe made their intentions clear early on, taking the lead after just 16 minutes through Patrick Mwanungulu, who capitalised on the home side’s bright start to put Medeama under immediate pressure.
The Congolese side doubled their advantage only eight minutes later when Kazema Baso found the back of the net to make it 2-0 and leave Medeama facing a daunting task of scoring at least twice to keep their continental campaign alive.
Medeama struggled to find a response before the break, with Mazembe maintaining control of the contest and protecting their aggregate advantage.
The hosts eventually put the tie beyond doubt in the 78th minute when Mwanungulu struck again to complete his brace and extend Mazembe’s lead to 3-0 on the night.
Medeama refused to leave Lubumbashi without a consolation, however, as Dominic Amponsah pulled one back for the visitors in the 87th minute.
The result brings Medeama’s Champions League adventure to an end, while TP Mazembe advance to the next stage of the competition after successfully overcoming the Ghanaian champions across both legs.
Medeama will now shift their attention to domestic football as they aim to defend the Premier League title.
