Matchday 9: Hearts move on top, Medeama maintain top spot despite defeat to Wonders

Hearts of Oak beat WAFA 4-0 on Sunday to move on top of the Premier B table .

Youngster Michelle Sarpong shot the Phobians into the lead 29 minutes into the game with skipper Abdul Fatawu Mohammed, Abdul Manaf Umar and Kofi Kordzi all all scoring for Coach Kim Grant’s side in the Match-day nine fixture of the NC Special Competition.

Hearts are now on top of the log with Karela FC in second position with 17 points after beating fourth placed Elmina Sharks 1-0 courtesy Emmanuel Osei Baffour’s lone goal.

Dreams FC’s winless run in the competition continued after drawing goalless with Liberty Professionals at the Dawu Park on Sunday.

Effiong Nsungusi’s opener could not help bottom placed Inter Allies as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to Dwarfs in Cape Coast.

Medeama SC failed to extend their lead on top of Premier A after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Eleven Wonders away in Nkoranza.

Muhazu Hardi and Solomon Afriyie were the scorers for the home side with Mathew Essiam getting the consolation goal for Medeama.

Aduana Stars who have been temporarily banned from playing at the Nana Agyeman Badu park, beat Bechem United 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Yahaya Mohammed and Fatawu Abdulrahman were on target for the Ogya boys to secure them the win and a move to third on the league log.

The competition continues on Wednesday with   Match day 10 matches scheduled to be played across the country.
