Brentford striker Jo Kuffour has rejected the opportunity to join Huddersfield, according to Terriers boss Andy Ritchie.

Kuffour, who is out of contract in the summer, is hankering after a switch to the Championship, having impressing this season despite The Bees' relegation.

The 25-year-old scored 14 goals for League One's bottom club and Ritchie admits he is disappointed by his failure to lure the player to the Galpharm Stadium.

Ritchie told Town's official website: "I did make an enquiry for Jo Kuffour but, unfortunately, at the moment, it does not look like he wants to come.

"His agent tells me he wants to go to the Championship and if he cannot get fixed up at that level, that he wants to stay around the London area.

"I am a little bit disappointed about that, but this is what you have to put up with when you are talking to people."
