Kotoko return to winning ways as Hearts extend lead in a premier B

Asante Kotoko returned to winning ways as they defeated Eleven Wonders by a lone goal in their NC Special Competition Day 12 game played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday.

Abdul Ganiu Ismail’s converted a penalty to give the Porcupine warriors a win in the mid week fixture.

The biggest win of Week 12 was recorded at the Len Clay Stadium where Ashgold thumped Aduana Stars 4-1 keep their semifinals hopes alive.

Shafiu Mumuni’s hat trick and Amos Kofi Nkrumah gave the miners the win while Mumuni gave Aduana a consolation goal with an own goal.

Bechem United also shocked Berekum Chelsea with a 3-1 win at the Golden City Park.

Francis Twene shot Chelsea into the lead before Kojo Owusu Achau, Charles Mensah and Hope Aveyevu gave the Hunters a win on Wednesday.

Meanwhile Accra Hearts of Oak extended their lead on top of the Premier B table after beating Karela by a lone goal in their crunch tie played at the Accra Stadium.

Christopher Bonney was on target for Hearts of Oak after converting a penalty in the second half to see them move to 25 points on top of the log.

The win also sees the Phobians through to the semifinals of the competition.

WAFA was also stunned at home after George Amonoo’s solitary goal gave Elmina Sharks a rare win in Sogakope.

There was another away win in Premier B as Liberty Professionals went away to beat Inter Allies 0-2 at the Tema Stadium.

The match between Ebusua FCand Dreams FC  will continue on Thursday after the game was halted by referees due to heavy rainfall which made the pitch unplayable.

The penultimate games of the competition will come off this weekend with the second round set to end on May 26.
