Asante Kotoko gave their title defence a major boost after jumping to the second position on the Glo Premier League table on Wednesday.

The Porcupine Warriors defeated ten-man Berekum Chelsea 2-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium to pile the pressure at the top as they are now two points behind leaders, Medeama, who drew away.

Micky Ofosu opened the scoring after six minutes into the start of the game to end the first first half 1-0 in their favour.

Chelsea had Abdul Rasheed sent off in the 49th minute for dangerous play on Ofosu.

Presented with a numerical advantage, Kotoko doubled their lead nine minutes after Rasheed's sending off through striker Kofi Nti Boakye.

Chelsea are now lying fourth on the table and three points adrift the top.
