Coach Kassim Ocansey Mingle and his technical team have successfully concluded the first phase of their nationwide talent identification exercise with a scouting programme held at the Malik Jabir Sports Stadium in Wa, Upper West Region.

The exercise, which took place on Thursday, June 18, 2026, attracted a large number of young footballers from across the region, all eager to showcase their abilities and stake a claim for a place in Ghana's next U-17 national team.

Coach Mingle and his technical staff which included Goalkeepers Coach Stephen Ahorlu, closely assessed the players' technical abilities, tactical awareness, physical attributes and overall potential as they continue the search for talent ahead of the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.

The Upper West Region scouting session provided the technical team with an opportunity to observe several promising talents, reinforcing the belief that quality players can be found in every part of the country when given the opportunity to perform on a national platform.

The nationwide talent hunt will continue in the Upper East Region on Friday, June 19, 2026, at the Kurt E.S. Okraku Technical Center in Winkongo, Bolgatanga, before proceeding to the Northern Region and other parts of the country.

The scouting exercise is expected to culminate in the formation of a new Black Starlets squad that will begin preparations for the 2026 WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship and potentially the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations and FIFA U-17 World Cup should Ghana secure qualification.
